Career questions are the most common reason people book a BaZi reading. The system doesn't hand out job titles — it describes tendencies: what kind of work energizes you, where you're likely to overextend, and when opportunities tend to open.
1. What a career reading looks at
1.1. The Day Master — your working style
The element of your birth-day stem sets the baseline. The five elements lean toward different kinds of work:
- Wood grows into authority and structure — leadership, education, law, long-cycle projects.
- Fire needs visibility and audience — media, sales, branding, teaching, anything performative.
- Earth stabilizes and brokers — operations, real estate, consulting, care professions.
- Metal refines and adjudicates — finance, engineering, quality control, law.
- Water flows and strategizes — research, strategy, logistics, writing, data.
1.2. Element strength — not just identity
A reader weighs the whole chart: is your Day Master element strong (born in its season, supported by other stems) or weak? The career advice flips accordingly. A strong Wood needs pruning — competition and pressure sharpen it. A weak Wood needs watering — mentorship and stable structure let it grow. This "strength" question is why two people with the same Day Master get different advice.
