2027 is the Year of the Goat — specifically 丁未 (Ding Wei), the Fire Goat. It begins on February 6, 2027 (Chinese New Year) and runs to January 25, 2028.
1. Why "Fire Goat"?
Each Chinese year is named by a pair from two cycles: the ten Heavenly Stems (each carrying an element and yin/yang polarity) and the twelve Earthly Branches (the zodiac animals). 丁 is Yin Fire; 未 is the Goat. So 2027 is a Yin Fire Goat year — in folk terms, a "Fire Goat" year, sometimes called 火羊年.
2. The zodiac year table
To find your sign, find your birth year. If you were born in January or early February, check against the Chinese New Year date for that year — the zodiac switches at Lunar New Year, not January 1.
